Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Reports to: Director of Resource Development
Status: Full-Time, Salaried/Exempt
Salary: $47,000-$52,000 based on experience

Position Summary
Connections to Success (CtS) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Resource Development Manager to provide leadership for fundraising, community engagement, and key program initiatives in the Kansas City region. Working in partnership with the CEO, Director of Resource Development, , and other CtS staff, this position will help grow and diversify revenue, strengthen donor and community relationships, manage strategic events and volunteer engagement, and support programs that advance CtS’s mission of economic mobility.
The Resource Development Manager will have primary responsibility for managing the Kansas City Dress for Success program, including volunteer engagement and coordination, and will serve as a key staff liaison to the Young Professionals Board (YPB). The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, highly organized, and collaborative professional who can build relationships, identify opportunities, and translate CtS’s mission into meaningful engagement and financial support.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Resource Development & Fundraising

• Implement mission-focused development strategies to expand revenue and strengthen CtS’s donor base.
• Research, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, foundation, and community donors.
• Move prospective donors through the donor cultivation and stewardship pipeline, including identifying opportunities for increased engagement and support.
• Conduct grant research and contribute to the development, writing, submission, and reporting of foundation, corporate, and other grant proposals.
• Support major gift cultivation and solicitation efforts led by the CEO and Director of Resource Development.
• Research and develop sponsorship opportunities and secure support for programs, events, and organizational priorities.
• Maintain accurate donor and prospect information in DonorPerfect, including timely documentation, acknowledgments, and follow-up.
• Coordinate donor recognition, appreciation, and stewardship activities.
• Identify opportunities for board members and volunteers to participate in fundraising and relationship development.

Dress for Success Kansas City

• Provide leadership and day-to-day coordination of the Dress for Success Kansas City program.
• Coordinate volunteers, including recruitment, orientation, scheduling, engagement, recognition, and ongoing communication.
• Build and maintain relationships that support the program’s volunteer and community engagement needs.
• Coordinate program activities and ensure a welcoming, professional, and mission-centered experience for participants and volunteers.
• Support relationships and activities related to clothing donations and community resources.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen the program’s visibility, partnerships, volunteer engagement, and impact.

Young Professionals Board & Committees

• Serve as staff liaison to the Young Professionals Board (YPB), providing guidance, coordination, and support to advance its fundraising, engagement, and community-building goals.
• Recruit, engage, and support YPB members and help develop meaningful opportunities for their leadership and involvement.
• Organize and support committees for the annual Tribute to Success luncheon and other special events as needed.
• Provide staff support to relevant board and organizational committees.

Events & Community Engagement

• Plan, coordinate, and execute CtS annual, third-party, and community fundraising events.
• Develop and manage event timelines, sponsorship opportunities, committees, volunteers, communications, and follow-up.
• Serve as a CtS ambassador by representing the organization at community events, meetings, networking opportunities, and speaking engagements, while promoting CtS's mission, programs, and impact
• Build and maintain relationships with corporations, foundations, community organizations, employers, volunteers, and other strategic partners.
• Identify opportunities to increase community awareness, engagement, and support for CtS.

Communications & Marketing

• Assist in developing and implementing communication, marketing, and social media strategies that support fundraising, program awareness, and community engagement.
• Develop compelling donor, program, and organizational messaging in collaboration with the Resource Development and Communications Team.
• Support storytelling and content development that demonstrates CtS’s impact and elevates participant and program success.
• Ensure communications consistently reflect CtS’s mission, vision, values, and brand.
• Internal lead for updating website and sharepoint folder, in collaboration with contracted marketing company and Director of Operations.

 
Organizational Support

• Participate in annual budgeting and development planning, establishing realistic and challenging revenue goals.
• Provide support and guidance to the Board of Directors and serve as staff liaison to assigned committees.
• Ensure fundraising activities follow CtS policies and procedures and applicable professional and legal standards.
• Collaborate with staff across the organization to identify opportunities to strengthen revenue, partnerships, programming, and community impact.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate accountability to donors, participants, volunteers, and community partners.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Three or more years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, donor relations, community engagement, program management, or
• related field.
• Demonstrated experience in fundraising research, grant writing, donor communications, and relationship management.
• Experience managing volunteers and/or community-based programs strongly preferred.
• Experience with events, sponsorships, corporate partnerships, and individual donor cultivation preferred.
• Experience with marketing, communications, and social media.
• Experience with DonorPerfect or similar donor management software preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Key Relationships
Reports to: Director of Resource Development
Internal: CEO, Director of Resource Development, Regional Program Director, all staff, volunteers, mentors, and participants.
External: Individual and corporate donors, foundations, corporate partners, volunteers, Young Professionals Board members, community organizations, referring agencies, prospective employers, guest speakers, clothing donors, and other community partners.
