Work includes coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Critical Path Method (CPM) for Department projects, and providing support for resource leveling, priority development, project analysis, reporting, and training. Works directly with the project manager to help define the project’s goals and objectives. Work requires extensive contact with department staff, governmental agencies, and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. Responsibilities Assist in developing and supporting Standard Operating Procedures for developing, maintaining, and archiving project schedules in accordance with document retention policies. Plan, develop, maintain, and make recommendations concerning detailed project schedules and facilitate on-time completion of projects with the optimal level of resources available. Support the project management team and assist with the maintenance of timely and effective change management processes, procedures, and systems. Analyze and report on program funding change scenarios and their impact to individual project schedules. Assess and report actual project progress versus planned progress to determine trends and variances. Assist in critical path method (CPM) software implementation and best practices. Monitor and report on major milestones for the project portfolio. Review detailed project schedules to ensure compliance with Department policies, practices, and procedures. Coordinate project meetings and conduct presentations. Perform other job responsibilities as assigned. Develop and support Standard Operating Procedures for developing, maintaining, and archiving project schedules. Evaluate and make recommendations for developing, monitoring, and updating integrated project plans and schedules so that projects may be executed in the most efficient and effective manner possible. Identify risks, assess their impact on projects and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential impacts. Oversee the planning, development and maintenance of detailed project schedules and facilitate on-time completion of projects with the optimal level of resources available. Oversee the scheduling of all activities associated with assigned projects to produce an integrated critical path schedule, update as required and report potential problems and/or problem areas. Assist in critical path method (CPM) software implementation and best practices. Monitor and report on major milestones for the project portfolio. Review detailed project schedules to ensure compliance with Department policies, practices and procedures. Coordinate project meetings and conduct presentations. Minimum Qualifications Project Management Specialist II Experience: 2 years project management or development, construction/engineering support, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Minimum Qualifications Project Management Specialist III Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Experience: 4 years project management or development, construction/engineering support, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Licenses and Certifications Valid US driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
