Dental and Vision Financial Underwriter

The Senior Financial Underwriter supports renewing and prospective moderate to complex group Dental and Vision accounts. This role is responsible for computing rates, analyzing financial and risk data, and preparing offers for new and existing business. The position requires experience with employer group underwriting for groups of 100 or more. The Senior Financial Underwriter partners with internal teams to explain pricing decisions and financial outcomes, contributes to department strategy, and helps improve underwriting processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Compute rates for renewing and prospective group Dental and Vision accounts.
• Prepare financial reports and analyses for moderate to complex groups.
• Provide clear rationale and support for rate calculations and financial activity.
• Estimate expenses and analyze financial exhibits accurately.
• Recommend products and competitive pricing to meet customer needs.
• Review contracts and certificates and partner with internal teams to support plan takeovers.
• Apply knowledge of manual rating systems and experience data in pricing decisions.
• Negotiate with sales and account management on new and existing business offers.
• Document and clearly communicate underwriting decisions.
• Manage time, workload, and priorities effectively.
• Mentor and coach team members to support technical skill development.
• Participate in projects to enhance or improve underwriting processes.

Required Qualifications

Five or more years of experience in underwriting employer group Dental and Vision benefits, specifically with experience-rated groups. Experience with financial and risk analysis for groups of 100 or more is ideal. This role does not involve individual application or loan underwriting. Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience. Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Access. Experience with internally built rating models is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• Experience underwriting other group benefit lines such as Life and Disability.

Work Environment

This is a remote contract position with a potential duration until December 1st. Extensions may be possible based on work volume. The role involves collaboration with internal team members, including sales associates.

Compensation & Benefits

The pay rate for this position is $49.00 per hour.
