Endoscopy TechnicianThe Endoscopy Technician plays a critical role in supporting gastroenterologists and other medical professionals by preparing and maintaining endoscopic equipment and assisting during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This position ensures that all endoscopic instruments are properly sterilized, functioning, and ready for use, thereby maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment. The technician is responsible for patient preparation, including explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process. They collaborate closely with the healthcare team to facilitate smooth procedural workflows and accurate documentation. Ultimately, the Endoscopy Technician contributes to high-quality patient care by combining technical expertise with compassionate support during endoscopic examinations.We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Endoscopy Tech at North Shore Gastroenterology Associates in Great Neck, NY.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of an accredited Endoscopy Technician training program or equivalent clinical experience.Certification as an Endoscopy Technician (e.g., Certified Endoscopy Technician - CET) or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Familiarity with medical terminology and standard infection control practices.Preferred Qualifications:Associate degree in a health-related field.Experience working in a hospital or outpatient endoscopy setting.Advanced certifications such as Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) or similar.Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.Strong communication skills and experience in patient education.Responsibilities:Prepare and sterilize endoscopic equipment and instruments according to established protocols to ensure patient safety and infection control.Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by handling instruments, monitoring equipment, and providing necessary support.Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, positioning them appropriately, and monitoring vital signs as needed.Maintain accurate records of procedures, equipment maintenance, and patient information in compliance with healthcare regulations.Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure efficient scheduling, room setup, and post-procedure care.Skills:The Endoscopy Technician utilizes technical skills daily to prepare and maintain complex endoscopic equipment, ensuring all devices function correctly and meet sterilization standards. Attention to detail is critical when documenting procedures and managing patient records to comply with healthcare regulations. Effective communication skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients and coordinating with the medical team to facilitate smooth operations. Problem-solving abilities help the technician quickly address equipment malfunctions or procedural challenges.
