Data Engineer

Data EngineerLocation: Minneapolis, MN System One is seeking a Data Engineer to join a growing team in Minneapolis, MN. In this role, you'll help build and support a modern data platform in Microsoft SQL Server, transforming raw and messy data into high-performance, conformed star schemas that drive business intelligence and reporting.Responsibilities:Build multi-layer data pipelines moving data through:Raw layer: ingest structured/semi-structured data from multiple sourcesDelta layer: cleanse, deduplicate, and standardize dataConformed layer: apply consistent business logic to create enterprise "sources of truth"Gold layer (Star Schema): create optimized Fact and Dimension tables for reportingImplement historical tracking using SCD Type 2 patterns (EffectiveDate, EndDate, IsCurrent, etc.)Optimize performance (T-SQL tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning approaches) as data volume growsSupport data governance and lineage standards (sentinel "-1" records, audit columns like InsertDate/UpdateDate)Required qualifications:2–4 years of experience in a Data Engineering / BI Developer type roleStrong MS SQL Server / T-SQL skills (CTEs, window functions, MERGE statements, etc.)Working knowledge of Kimball dimensional modeling (Star Schemas) and medallion-style layered data architectureHands-on experience building SCD Type 2 dimensionsExperience with SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory (ADF) (or similar ETL/orchestration tools)Preferred qualifications:Experience with hybrid sources (flat files, APIs, SQL databases)Familiarity with Git/version control for database scriptsExposure to Azure SQL DatabaseSystem One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
