Process Engineer

Overview We have an excellent opportunity for a Process Engineer at the Roanoke Cement Plant located in Troutville, VA. This salaried exempt position will report to the Cement Production Manager and will be responsible for all activities from the bottom of the clinker silos through shipping via the packhouse, truck and rail loadout including: meeting the sales and production forecasts with the lowest possible manufacturing cost; meeting quality targets; and maintaining compliance with all environmental and safety regulations. The area will be managed as an independent profit center, purchasing raw materials from internal and external suppliers and hiring general plant and technical services on a consulting/contractor labor basis planning, coordinating and monitoring the operations of plant equipment to ensure attainment of plant objectives, cost efficiency and adherence to industry safety, security and hygiene standards. Responsibilities Maintaining a safe and a clean working environment for all employees working in the area following MSHA and Titan policies as well as compliance with all permit and environmental regulations. Schedule all cement production activities based on budget and sales forecasts, raw material and final product inventories, and equipment availability. Ensure that all quality targets are met at each phase of the cement manufacturing process. Maintain final product inventory levels for reliable service of internal and external customers. Optimize the performance of the finish grinding systems and system performance through equipment studies and efficiency audits of all major equipment. Work with the maintenance planner and the area maintenance supervisor to schedule regular maintenance activities and major repairs based on production needs, equipment condition and availability. Managing manufacturing costs for the product at or below the Budget limits. Work with the procurement department to maintain proper inventories of all additives and packaging materials. Ensure that all materials are kept under proper storage conditions. Develop budgets and forecast, approve and monitor all expenditures. Manage area personnel, evaluate operator’s performance, develop training plans, train and assess operator progress and efficiency. Meet all major KPI's established and report on themon a monthly basis. Visa Sponsorship: This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored visa support now or in the future. Candidates must be able to commute to the work location independently. Qualifications Must have BS degree in engineering with a minimum of 3 years cement operations. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential. Proficiency in MS Office programs required. Must have excellent leadership and management skills (Skills will be assessed using a behavior based program). Individual must exhibit professional ability to deal with others and to create constructive working relationships and an overall positive working environment. Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Project management skills and knowledge of basic financial analysis required. Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively.
