Veterinary Technician

Responsibilities Assist veterinarians in patient care and medical treatments including medication administration, vaccine administration, acquiring laboratory samples, processing in‑house and reference lab samples, filling prescriptions, anesthesia induction and monitoring, dental prophylaxis with extractions, surgical preparation, hospitalized patient care, critical/emergency care and triage. Identify and work patiently with clients in varying emotional states. Gentle and compassionate care of patients. Assist with inventory and ordering medical supplies and patient food. Answer phones and make appointments as needed. Check in clients, take medical history, and obtain patient vital signs. Provide client education. Relay appropriate information to/from clients to veterinarians and/or office manager. Maintain proper documentation in the electronic medical record. Assist in cleaning the hospital, including laundry, floors, trash and recycling, treatment and other areas, surgery, exam rooms, kennels, bathrooms, kitchen and grounds. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and to accept change. Be attentive to detail, flexible, patient, well‑organized, and self‑motivated. Must have excellent communication skills and be open to constructive feedback. Must be able to multi‑task and prioritize. Must have a friendly demeanor and conduct themselves in a professional manner. Must be capable of being cross‑trained for front‑office receptionist duties that will be expected in the job. Must be capable of being cross‑trained to assist with kennel worker responsibilities and caring for boarders. Education High school or equivalent (required). Experience Veterinary experience: 1 year (preferred). Benefits Employee discount. Schedule 8‑hour shift Monday‑Friday. Alternate Saturdays 8:00 am–1:00 pm. Weekends as needed.
