Openings as of 7/31/2026 Elementary Assistant Principal JobID: 36547 Date Posted: 7/29/2026 Location: Banneker Elementary School Date Available: August 2026 Closing Date: 08/07/2026 Position: Elementary Assistant Principal Reports To: Principal Starting Date: August 2026 Application Deadline: August 7, 2026 The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in providing instructional leadership, supporting school operations, and promoting a safe, positive, and student-centered learning environment. Responsibilities include supporting student achievement, attendance, discipline, curriculum implementation, staff supervision, school culture, and daily operations. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with students, staff, families, and the community to support equitable educational opportunities, continuous school improvement, and successful early learning student outcomes. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience required, experience teaching in early childhood and/or elementary education preferred. Proven ability to serve as an effective instructional leader through collaboration, data-informed decision making, and support of teaching and learning. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the community. Note: All staff are hired by Milford School District rather than a specific building. While this opening is currently at the building listed above, final placement is subject to change based on district staffing needs. Performance Responsibilities: This list is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or ability associated with this role but is intended to accurately reflect the principal job elements. Work collaboratively, professionally, and productively with school and district leadership teams to support high-quality educational programming, student services, and school operations that meet the needs of students, families, staff, and the school community. Support the Principal in ensuring school operations align with Board policies, district procedures, state and federal regulations, and all mandated requirements. Provide instructional leadership in the areas of student achievement, attendance, behavior, school culture, and continuous school improvement. Support the implementation of curriculum, evidence-based instructional practices, and data-driven decision making to improve teaching and learning for all students. Monitor and analyze student achievement, assessment, attendance, behavioral, and other school data to identify trends, inform decision making, and improve student outcomes. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of special education laws, regulations, services, and compliance requirements, including supporting the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Support the implementation of a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and other systems of support to ensure the academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental success of all learners. Promote equitable access to instruction, interventions, accommodations, and enrichment opportunities to meet the diverse needs of students. Promote a strong foundation for lifelong learning by supporting the academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental growth of young learners through developmentally appropriate practices, early identification of student needs, and targeted interventions that maximize student success. Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood education, child development, and evidence-based instructional practices for students in preschool through first grade, ensuring developmentally appropriate learning experiences that foster academic, social-emotional, language, and behavioral growth. Support the implementation of high-quality early intervention and early learning services by collaborating with educators, specialists, and families to identify student needs, strengthen transitions into kindergarten, and ensure effective systems of support for all learners, including students with disabilities and diverse learning needs. Communicate and support a shared vision for teaching and learning that promotes student achievement, continuous improvement, accountability, and high expectations. Demonstrate cultural competence and foster an inclusive school environment where every student feels valued, respected, and supported. Maintain a visible presence throughout the school day, during school activities, and within the community while promoting a positive, safe, and welcoming learning environment. Foster positive relationships with students, staff, families, community partners, and district stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration. Assist with student discipline by implementing Board policies, restorative practices, due process, and proactive behavior supports that promote positive student outcomes. Support school improvement initiatives, organizational effectiveness, and strategic planning aligned with district and school goals. Communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally with students, families, staff, administrators, and community members. Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of emergency preparedness, school safety, and crisis response procedures. Collaborate with district departments and support personnel to ensure efficient school operations, including transportation, food services, facilities, custodial services, and other operational systems. Assist with the hiring, supervision, coaching, observation, professional growth, and evaluation of certified and classified staff to support continuous improvement. Support the development of staff capacity through instructional coaching, professional learning, collaboration, and ongoing feedback. Assist with student enrollment, classroom placement, scheduling, and other organizational processes that support effective school operations. Prepare and maintain reports, records, compliance documentation, and other required materials in a timely and accurate manner. Attend and support school events, family engagement activities, extracurricular programs, and district initiatives as assigned. Adhere to Board policies, district regulations, and administrative directives while responding to requests in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or district administration. Special Requirements Requirement to work beyond a 40-hour week, including evening and weekend meetings and events. Ability to respond to school and District emergencies at any time. Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) month full-time employee. Salary: Established by the Board of Education. Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually using the state approved system.
