Gain exposure to multifaceted financial processes and construction accounting.Job DescriptionSenior Development Accountant OverviewThe Senior Development Accountant will oversee comprehensive accounting operations for real estate development projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Manage acquisition setup, monthly close, and reporting for development entities, collaborating directly with the CFO.Handle full-cycle project accounting, including construction closeout and financial reconciliations.Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP standards and maintain integrity across financial systems and workflows.Prepare detailed lender and JV partner reports, meeting contractual timelines and requirements.Coordinate audit schedules, tax preparations, and depreciation schedules to support external audits.Supervise accounts payable processes, ensuring compliance with vendor requirements and payment accuracy.Collaborate on financial statement reviews and cost-segregation studies with the CFO.Maintain construction budgets, track costs, and prepare cost-to-complete reports for project management.Senior Development Accountant Key Responsibilities & DutiesSet up financial systems for new acquisitions, ensuring accurate coding and workflow configurations.Manage monthly close processes, preparing consolidated financial reports and reconciliations.Track and report project costs, including hard and soft costs, change orders, and contingencies.Prepare lender draw packages and reconcile funding allocations to project ledgers.Supervise accounts payable, verifying invoices, lien waivers, and vendor compliance.Coordinate audit schedules, depreciation schedules, and K-1 preparations with external auditors.Ensure compliance with capitalization rules and manage fixed asset schedules.Support tax preparation processes and maintain real estate tax amortization schedules.Collaborate with the CFO on financial statement reviews and policy implementations.Senior Development Accountant Job RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.Minimum of 5 years of real estate accounting experience, including construction or development accounting.Proficiency in Yardi systems; experience with Ingenious Build or similar platforms preferred.Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP standards and financial reporting practices.Demonstrated ability to manage lender draw packages and project cost tracking.Experience in external audit coordination and tax preparation support.Comfortable working independently in a remote office environment with direct CFO exposure.Multifamily and ground-up development experience is preferred.Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage complex accounting operations.
