Water/Wastewater Design Engineer

We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Design Engineer to support the delivery of innovative and sustainable infrastructure projects across the water and wastewater sector. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the planning, design and delivery of schemes for clean water, wastewater treatment, water networks, pumping stations, drainage and associated infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, construction support and completion.


Your responsibilities will include preparing technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings and schedules; developing hydraulic and infrastructure designs; reviewing design requirements and identifying practical, cost-effective solutions; and coordinating with engineers, technicians, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders. You will assist with site surveys, inspections, investigations and technical assessments, while ensuring designs comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, health and safety requirements and environmental objectives. You may also support planning applications, tender documentation, construction queries, design reviews and project deliverables.


Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in water or wastewater design. Knowledge of hydraulic modelling, drainage systems, treatment processes, water networks and design software is desirable. Experience with tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic modelling packages or similar systems would be advantageous. You should be able to communicate clearly, manage priorities effectively and work collaboratively while maintaining a high standard of technical accuracy. A proactive approach, sound problem-solving skills and a commitment to professional development are essential. Relevant professional accreditation, or progress towards accreditation, would be beneficial.
