About the Role:

The Galley Tech - VBH Days position is a critical role responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of galley equipment and systems aboard vessels. This role focuses on supporting the culinary and hospitality teams by maintaining a clean, safe, and fully functional galley environment during daytime operations. The successful candidate will troubleshoot, repair, and perform routine maintenance on a variety of kitchen appliances and systems to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety and health regulations. Collaboration with other technical and operational staff is essential to coordinate repairs and upgrades without disrupting daily service. Ultimately, this role ensures that the galley operates smoothly, contributing to the overall success and satisfaction of the vessel’s crew and passengers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous food service, kitchen, dietary, or customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and department procedures.
• Ability to perform basic food preparation and serve appropriate portions.
• Ability to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical duties required in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to work effectively with residents, patients, visitors, and other staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a healthcare, long-term care, hospital, or institutional food service setting.
• Knowledge of special diets and basic food safety practices.
• Experience with meal tray assembly and food service.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver resident meals according to department procedures.
• Prepare food, desserts, fruit, snacks, and beverages.
• Follow special diet and portion requirements.
• Stock food and beverage supplies.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area.
• Follow cleaning procedures and complete required documentation.
• Assist in other kitchen areas as needed.
• Provide courteous customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Galley Tech must be able to communicate effectively, provide courteous customer service, work well with residents and staff, follow written instructions and procedures, maintain attention to detail, manage time efficiently, and work independently and as part of a team. Must be dependable, organized, able to prioritize tasks, maintain a clean and sanitary work area, and safely handle food, equipment, and supplies.
