APP - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner II | Orthopedic Surgery

Job Overview Marshfield Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Orthopedics to join our team in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The role supports orthopedic fellowship‑trained physicians in the operating room, clinic, and inpatient rounding duties. Applicants will provide advanced nursing care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions, collaborating with surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to evaluate, treat, and manage patients pre‑ and post‑operatively, ensuring optimal functional recovery. Work shift varies. Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Responsibilities Analyze and interpret patients’ histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses. Build rapport with patients and explain diagnoses and treatment plans effectively. Coordinate and manage care for patients, including those with complex needs. Deliver written and oral communication, responding to questions and concerns, producing specific outcomes and impact. Develop treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines. Establish and maintain productive working relationships within and outside of own area; promote collaboration across generations, functions, regions, and levels. Maintain complete and detailed records of patients’ health care plans and prognoses. Maintain departmental policies and procedures in areas such as safety and infection control; perform quality control and uphold high standards in infection control mechanisms. Recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy. Promote a safe environment for patients, families, staff, residents, and visitors; collaborate with the multi‑disciplinary team to provide the best outcomes. Provide on‑call coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours. Qualifications Completion of a master’s, post‑master’s, or doctoral program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Preferred master’s degree in nursing if licensed prior to August1,1995. Experience in orthopedic surgery, trauma, or musculoskeletal care preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice. State Controlled Substance License (if required). National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP‑BC) or Acute Care Adult (ACNP‑BC). Additional certifications (e.g., Family (FNP‑BC), Adult‑Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP‑BC), Adult (ANP‑C)) require approval from a market executive leader.
