Senior Deputy Design Manager - Municipal Projects

Job Description Senior Deputy Design Manager – Hybrid role requiring 2-3 days on site. The Senior Deputy Design Manager will work with our team on large‑scale municipal projects, supporting Project Managers in managing CMARs and AEs throughout the design, preconstruction, construction procurement, construction, and closeout phases for renovation and restacking projects. Provides support and reports to the assigned Project Manager(s) or Project Director and interacts frequently with owner/client, consultants, design professionals and contractors. Assists Project Manager(s) in managing, coordinating and administering civil scopes through all phases of design and construction. Ensures all client services are delivered at the highest level to address client needs. Prepares documents (reports, schedules, invoices, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes/agendas, daily reports, change orders, inspections, closeout and client presentations) for programming, civil design and construction, and assists in maintaining information in project management software. Schedules meetings with the project team as directed by the Project Manager(s). Communicates conceptual civil designs and maintains project documentation before, during, and after construction. Maintains Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for civil elements. Reviews and informs design RFPs. Manages external design consultants through the design and construction process. Communicates design standards to internal and external project partners. Manages multiple fast‑paced projects simultaneously. Develops innovative solutions to reduce costs while maintaining quality and reliability. Oversees commissioning of electrical scopes and coordinates with the project management team for project completion. May be responsible for SOX control activities where applicable. Qualifications College degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred. Experience in project management on large‑scale construction programs. Construction consultancy experience strongly desirable. Experience in civil design. Prior commissioning experience. Manufacturing or mission‑critical experience strongly desirable. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent presentation skills and client‑facing effectiveness. Team player with collaborative mindset. Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking and analytical skills. Track record of delivering high‑quality programs. Detail‑oriented with strong written and verbal communication and ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Licensed architect or architectural education preferred. Additional Information The salary range for this full‑time role is $140,000‑$160,000 per year. The range represents base salary only and may vary based on candidate experience and qualifications.
