Project Manager I – GEC (HNTB) South Portland, ME Overview Lead multidisciplinary program management tasks and client coordination for the Maine Turnpike Authority, supporting highway design, traffic, bridge engineering, tolling, technology, planning, and asset management initiatives. What You'll Do Develop project scope and fee quotation and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts under HNTB’s Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA). Serve as primary client liaison, manage project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budget to client satisfaction, and assist with scoping and contract negotiations. Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reporting, design, specification, and production for assigned projects. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA), lead development and execution of the project management plan, and supervise and mentor the team toward project objectives. Coordinate with managers on project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning, and support performance and compensation reviews. Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to support business development, build client relationships, and pursue strategic and mini‑mega projects, preparing proposals and presentation materials. Possibly recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff, including developing reporting plans and reviewing performance and compensation. Perform other duties as assigned. Use system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver smaller projects or task orders. Provide technical guidance to team and task leads and perform portions of technical work. What You'll Need Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant experience. At least 2 years of task management or Deputy Project Manager experience. What You'll Bring Experience delivering smaller projects on time, within budget, and to customer satisfaction. Ability to identify and raise risk and change‑management issues with appropriate oversight. Leadership of a small project or task order with minimal or no subconsultants. Proficiency using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver projects or task orders. Experience implementing sophisticated processes through the Office Management Team. Collaboration with client‑level peers on smaller projects or task orders. Providing technical guidance to team leads and performing technical work portions. What We Prefer Master’s degree in Engineering. 10 years of relevant experience. Professional Engineer (PE) certification. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
