Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician - On Call

Biometric Technician (BT) - United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) - Waukegan, IL This position supports the mission of the USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) in Waukegan, IL. It is an on-call (casual) role where employees are expected to be available Monday through Friday, 7:45am to 4:15pm, for substitute coverage as needed. Hours are not guaranteed; availability is required for this as needed assignment. Primary Responsibilities Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking lawful immigration to the United States. Ensure all individuals entering the ASC are approved applicants or visitors, providing crowd control and enforcing ASC rules and policies. Deliver front-line customer service as representatives of Amentum and the U.S. Government. Perform high-quality biometric processing, including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established processing times. Screen applicants for valid appointment notice and identification and manage entry using crowd control barriers. Inspect applicants and belongings, and assess health status during pandemics or other health crises, denying entry if necessary. Conduct periodic interior and exterior facility checks, report concerns to the Site Supervisor, and assist in notifying law enforcement or first responders when required. Maintain accurate administrative paperwork, track processing times, reconcile biometrics captured, maintain visitor control logs, and sign off on facility checks. Qualifications US citizenship to obtain and maintain facility credentials. High School diploma or equivalent. English proficiency (speaking and writing). Ability to stand upright during scheduled shifts, excluding meals and breaks. Ability to hold and grasp an applicant’s hands for fingerprint capture. Ability to work in a high-paced public environment. Basic computer and typing skills. Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within sixty days.
