Office & Field – Insurance Sales Representative

Position Overview

The McKinnell Agency is seeking a driven, competitive, and highly motivated Sales Representative who thrives on generating and closing new business. This is a hands-on, high-volume sales position combining in-office selling with proactive field prospecting, community networking, and relationship development. The primary focus is home, auto, and commercial insurance, with life insurance sales experience preferred. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their pipeline, consistently exceeds activity and production goals, and enjoys meeting prospective customers wherever business opportunities arise.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate a high volume of new business through outbound calls, lead follow-up, referrals, networking events, community outreach, and in-person prospecting.
• Sell insurance solutions both in the office and in the field, including visits with local businesses, referral partners, and prospective clients.
• Quote, present, and close home, auto, and commercial insurance policies; identify opportunities for life insurance referrals and sales when appropriately licensed.
• Build and maintain productive referral relationships with real estate professionals, mortgage lenders, auto dealers, business owners, and other community partners.
• Maintain a disciplined daily sales schedule with consistent prospecting, appointments, quoting, follow-up, and closing activity.
• Identify coverage needs, explain policy options clearly, and recommend appropriate protection while delivering an excellent customer experience.
• Cross-sell and bundle coverage to increase household and commercial account value and deepen client relationships.

Qualifications

• Active Alabama Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license.
• Insurance sales experience, particularly in personal lines and/or commercial lines.
• Proven sales ability and a strong desire to meet or exceed ambitious new-business production goals.
• Comfortable with high-volume outbound prospecting, cold outreach, face-to-face selling, and asking for the sale.
• Self-directed, energetic, resilient, and accountable for personal results; able to work independently in the office and in the field.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and objection-handling skills.
• Strong organization, time management, and follow-through; comfortable using CRM and quoting systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and ability to travel locally for prospecting and networking.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary: $35,000-$40,000 based on experience. 
• Multiple commission and bonus opportunities through incentive program.
