Location: Woburn, MA What You Will Do This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer II to join us onsite in Woburn, MA.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote. The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply. Location: Woburn, MA What You Will Do This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer II to join us onsite in Woburn, MA.
- Execute the safety strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety/HSI features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding.
- Support the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
- Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact review, attending customer reviews, etc.
- Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure that system safety items are considered and to understand current program-wide issues.
- Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations.
- Meet internal and external commitments (deliveries).
- Own technical solutions and collaborate across IPTs to realize the solution that makes the overall product development and test successful.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with risk assessment concepts, such as those in MIL-STD 882E.
- Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
- Experience with test equipment & test equipment safety, in a laboratory setting.
- Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).
- Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.
- Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations.
- Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines.
- Experience interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering.
- Experience managing Working Groups.
- Active and transferrable final U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.
