Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH) is a 628 bed tertiary care hospital located at Stony Brook University. SBUH serves as a center of excellence for patient care and community service, laboratories for faculty research, and as a classroom for the education of tomorrow's health care providers. It is Suffolk County's only Level One Trauma tertiary care facility and serves as a regional resource for advanced patient care, education, and research and community service. Since it opened in 1980, SBUH has been committed to setting the standard for quality medical care and has a long-standing commitment to providing health care for Suffolk County residents regardless of their ability to pay.
Duties of a Respiratory Therapist May Include But Are Not Limited To The Following:
- Able to perform majority of RT patient assessment in the level of acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervision.
- Must possess ability to perform arterial puncture to obtain and analyze blood gases.
- Must possess ability to administer inhaled medications.
- Must be able to respond to Code Blues and Rapid Responses
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must not have had professional license or certification suspended or investigated.
- Must not have been named as a defendant in a professional liability claim.
- Must have verification of legal right to work in U.S.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance.
Required Qualifications:
- Current New York State Registered Respiratory Therapist license
- Certified in BLS and able to be recertified.
- Minimum of 1 year recent experience (within past 2 years) in an acute care facility of similar size and level as Hospital.
- Experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Record preferred.
Duration: 6 mos - 1 year
