Physician-Primary Care (Viera/Palm Bay)

Summary A recruitment/relocation incentive may be offered to highly qualified candidate(s). The incumbents will serve as a Primary Care Physician located within the Viera VA Clinic or Palm Bay VA Clinic assigned to the Ambulatory Care Service. Assignments to other facilities within the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS) and travel to the site may be required to meet the needs of the service. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Duties The Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS) is currently seeking outstanding full-time Family Practice or Internal Medicine trained Physicians to join our Primary Care Clinic Team as a Primary Care Provider. Provide comprehensive medical care under the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model to a panel of patients managed under PCMM guidelines. Be attentive to patient education and preventive care, and work well in an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality primary care. Provide comprehensive medical care. Manage chronic conditions and evaluate and treat inter-current medical conditions. Determine medical assessment and develop treatment plans according to accepted protocols. Collaborate with a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, continuous care to an assigned panel of patients. Provide comprehensive care for female veterans as a Women\'s Health PCP, including age-appropriate cervical and breast cancer screening, menopause and contraceptive management, and initial evaluation of basic gynecological concerns. Perform disease prevention activities including sex- and age-specific screenings, mental health screenings, and health promotion activities. Screen for, evaluate, and treat uncomplicated common mental health disorders (including depression and common addictions) with referrals to mental health providers as appropriate. Provide Buprenorphine treatment in the management of Opioid Use Disorder per DEA guidance. Supervise or collaborate with primary care mid-level providers as needed. Provide clinical oversight and participate in peer review of other primary care providers through periodic chart reviews. Act as a surrogate for absent primary care providers when needed, including review of CPRS view alerts. Attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings, and medical staff meetings. Ensure timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) in accordance with facility policy. Complete administrative work in a timely fashion and address clinical reminders as medically appropriate. Maintain quality of care in line with professional standards. Utilize all Virtual Care modalities as part of the position. Provide timely follow-up on results, including completion of view alerts. Prescribe medications according to the approved formulary and in accordance with Federal and State law. Consult with other specialties as appropriate, per service agreements. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to clinic demands, uphold ethical standards, and maintain a harmonious, customer-service oriented work environment. Cover unassigned/unscheduled patients or clinics when a provider is on leave or when there is a provider vacancy or urgent need. Assignments may include management of specialty PACTs such as Women\'s Health PACT, SCI PACT, OEF/OIF PACT, Homeless or GERI PACT. Travel to other sites within the Health Care System to cover provider shortages. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs. The candidate must be willing to be placed on detail or temporarily assigned to other services and/or locations for operational needs or during regional or national emergencies.
