Physician – Internal Medicine Summary: Physician is responsible for providing professional medical services in the specialty of internal medicine to patients of Mary Free Bed (MFB). Essential Job Responsibilities Provide professional medical services to inpatients, outpatients, and clinic patients. Maintain medical records in a timely fashion and cooperate with billing, peer review, and compliance programs. Provide oversight and education for students, residents, and mid‑level providers. Maintain staff privileges at MFB and any other mutually agreed upon hospitals, including required duties such as medical record completion, committee service, and compliance. Identify and promote opportunities for improvement of care and actively participate in MFB quality initiatives. Monitor developments in the specialty field and promote new programs that meet emerging standards. Provide medical leadership to the treatment team assigned to patients and promote harmonious, effective teamwork. Model professional behavior and enhance knowledge of MFB capabilities among medical professionals and patient populations through participation in education sessions, discharge planning conferences, ICU and rehabilitation teams, and community outreach activities. Promote the financial viability of MFB. Promote the development and dissemination of new knowledge, preferably in peer‑reviewed journals. Customer Service Responsibilities Demonstrate excellent customer service and promote standards of behavior among team members. Encourage, coach, and monitor team members in providing customer service. Promote teamwork and direct communication with co‑workers while handling confidential information with discretion and sensitivity. Contribute by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promote patient and family satisfaction and participate in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service metrics. Essential Job Qualifications M.D. or D.O. degree. Board‑certified or board‑eligible in internal medicine. State of Michigan medical license. Current BLS certification. Preferred Job Qualifications Experience developing new treatment programs and treatment paradigms. Experience in the medical rehabilitation of seriously ill patients.
