Overview Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Registered Nurse (RN) – NaphCare is hiring a MAT Registered Nurse to join our team of medical professionals in Grand Junction, Colorado. We manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals currently incarcerated in the Mesa County Jail. Pay rates range from $45.47 to $48.00 per hour, based on employment status, site needs, licensure, and experience. As a Correctional Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the residents. Working within a controlled environment where security is a top priority, you will have duties such as patient assessments, administering medications, coordinating care, responding to emergencies, and more. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine eligibility for MAT, including medical history, substance use history, mental health evaluation, and physical examination. Administer MAT medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosing and monitoring for adverse effects and drug interactions. Educate patients about MAT medications, potential side effects, and the importance of medication adherence; address misconceptions and stigma. Monitor patients during the induction, stabilization, and treatment phases, ensuring adherence to the program. Collaborate with the MAT team—including physicians, counselors, and other nurses—to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, counseling, and other support services. Communicate patient status changes to the care team, which may include providers, behavioral health specialists, and other support staff. Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and progress in the EHR. Provide all phases of patient support and treatment, including nursing visits, urine toxicology screens, labs, medication education, pill counts, observing dosing, and medication refills. Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention. Understand and adhere to correctional facility security protocols, working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure safety and well‑being of patients. Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report any relevant information. Qualifications Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Colorado. Possesses an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred). Has five years’ experience as an RN, with at least one year in the field of substance abuse. Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and procedures for direct healthcare services. Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed. Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening. Physical Capabilities Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
