Rehabilitation Supervisor

The Supervisor is responsible for supervising operational activities and providing clinical management of rehab services to the patient populations served by the facility. This shall include the direction, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of the professional staff, supportive staff, and students providing rehab services to patients. The Supervisor will also perform the duties of a clinical therapist.

The Supervisor will promote smooth operations, prompt and effective response to problems/concerns, continued department development, and program expansion. This position is also responsible for coordination of interdepartmental functions and activities to ensure smooth and effective operations consistent with the objectives of the department, the facility, and of the Frazier Rehab Institute.

Essential Functions:

• Communicates patient status by providing timely written or verbal communication to physicians and therapy customers
• Consistently establishes and maintains effective working relations with, patients and family members, internal customers, and external customers
• Demonstrates an understanding of the financial implications of treatment costs and resources on the department/facility by consistently working to provide cost effective treatment programming to served populations
• Ensures that patient charges and corresponding clinical documentation are in compliance with regulatory standards and department policies and procedures
• Supervises department personnel for one - two locations in a manner that ensures the highest quality of services and according to organization and department policies and procedures
• Develops a department personnel schedule to maintain adequate staffing to provide services to the patients at the facility. Works with other facility managers to ensure effective use of staff throughout the organization
• Monitors and reviews work of personnel to ensure that productivity, standards of practice, and regulatory requirements are consistently met
• Effectively coaches and counsels department personnel to facilitate optimum team member performance
• Encourages staff participation in program development, performance improvement activities, and community events sponsored by the organization
• Responds to team members' concerns by demonstrating effective listening skills, problem solving skills, and participatory management when situations require intervention. Communicates issues with the Manager/Director or Administration as appropriate
• Manages department operations in one two locations a manner that ensures the highest quality of services and according to organization and department policies and procedures

Other Functions:

• Performs the clinical duties of a supervising therapist, exhibiting an advanced level of clinical competence. Evaluates and implements competent therapy treatment and provides regular re-assessments for the purpose of treatment modification, to maximize patients' potential for functional independence, all in accordance with acceptable practice guidelines and department policies and procedures
• Assists with recruitment, interviewing, and selection of new personnel
• Completes required documentation and maintains pertinent record of assigned patients to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Serves as a role model for the department by demonstrating commitment to professional growth, department growth and competency
• Provides appropriate supervision of personnel to maintain smooth operations of services
• Ensures that all new team members complete organization and department orientation
• Demonstrates the ability to be efficient and productive by organizing job duties and responsibilities
• Assists Manager/Director in completing and maintaining budgets
• Actively participates in departmental/programmatic meetings, constructively expressing concerns and ideas
• Assesses the need for purchase of new equipment and supplies and communicates this information on a timely basis to the Manager/Director
• Clearly communicates evaluation results, treatment plan, and goals to patients and/or family; providing written information when applicable
• Prepares to assume additional leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Manager
• Contributes to the organization and operation of the department/programs within the organization's strategic plan and mission statement
• Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
• Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
• Performs other duties as assigned

Additional Job Description:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in physical, occupational, or speech therapy from a college/university accredited by the respective national accrediting body (required)
• Master's or Doctorate level degree in related field (preferred)

Experience:

• Two (2) years of recent clinical experience in an environment commensurate with the practice setting and programmatic needs of the facility (required)

Licensure:

• Licensed or eligible in the Commonwealth of Kentucky or State of Indiana, as appropriate to the facility (required)

Certification:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
