Location and Shift Location: Avera Specialty Hospital – Sioux Falls Work Shift: Day Shift (United States of America) Compensation Pay Rate: $31.00 – $46.25 per hour (dependent upon experience). Position Highlights Operating Room/Surgery: Monday to Friday – 8‑hour day/evening schedule (6:30 am – 3:00 pm) with occasional late coverage (4:00 pm or later). Job Overview Delivers nursing care, including developing a nursing diagnosis, establishing nursing care objectives, defining nursing interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. The role involves assessing conditions, medications, and self‑care skills, noting changing conditions, and re‑evaluating care objectives. Responsibilities Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicates the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team; coordinates with other health‑care providers; provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support; confers with physicians. Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; confers with family; establishes nursing diagnosis; defines nursing care objectives; determines nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. Teaches health‑care requirements by establishing patient care goals; instructs patients, family, and friends on condition, medications, and self‑care skills; answers questions; provides information and resources. Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care standards, reviewing patient records, noting changing conditions and needs, re‑evaluating care objectives, and modifying the nursing care plan. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by following infection‑control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; follows organization standards and policies and legal regulations; alerts others regarding potential concerns. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Maintains patient care equipment by following operating instructions and established procedures, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, and calling for repairs. Maintains patient care supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing: Active state license in practice. Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Experience working in a clinical environment.
