Clinical Psychologist – Washington, D.C.
Work Location Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency 633 Indiana Ave NW Washington, DC 20004- Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
- Total Compensation: $85.00 per hour, Independent Contractor (1099).
- Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
- Period of Performance: Five years from the date of Award.
Summary of Work
The Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for the District of Columbia (CSOSA) assumed the adult probation and parole supervision functions from the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. The mission of the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) is to increase public safety, prevent crime, reduce recidivism, and support fair administration of justice in close collaboration with the community. CSOSA is responsible for the supervision of all probationers, those on Supervised Release, and parolees held under the authority of any United States or District of Columbia statute, or any other lawful authority and entrusted to the District.

The Clinical Psychologist will work at one of four (4) locations within the Washington, D.C., area noted below:
- 633 Indiana Avenue, NW
- 2101 Martin Luther King Jr., Avenue, SE
- 1900 Massachusetts Avenue, SE
- 501 3rd Street, NW
Qualifications
- The Clinical Psychologist shall have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the APA Commission on Accreditation (APA-CoA),
- Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice clinical psychology or counseling psychology at the doctoral level in the District of Columbia, or a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States.
- At least five (5) years of experience within the last seven years of verifiable work experience as a licensed Psychologist specializing in counseling psychology or a licensed Clinical Psychologist, working with justice-involved populations

Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning for justice-involved individuals with a wide range of mental health conditions.
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy, counseling, crisis intervention, and evidence-based behavioral health services to support patient rehabilitation and well-being.
- Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans, documenting clinical findings, progress notes, and recommendations in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare, correctional, and case management teams to coordinate care, manage risk, and support continuity of treatment.
- Apply specialized expertise in counseling and clinical psychology to address the unique behavioral health needs of justice-involved populations while maintaining compliance with ethical, legal, and institutional requirements.
- Task 1 - Evidence-based Individual Psychotherapy. Conduct evidence-based individual psychotherapy sessions (50 minutes in length) to address criminogenic risks and needs symptoms. The session topic(s), method, frequency, and duration must be aligned with the Clinical Report of Findings and/or referral authorization.
- Task 2 - Grief & Loss Counseling. Conduct grief & loss counseling (50 minutes in length) to help Supervisees develop personalized coping strategies, process layered and sometimes conflicting emotions and gradually restore a sense of emotional balance. The session method, frequency, and duration must be aligned with the Clinical Report of Findings and/or referral authorization.
- Task 3 - Behavioral Health Advocacy Group. Facilitate a group with the objective of teaching Supervisees with significant mental health or medical health challenges to understand and follow treatment regimens and to advocate for themselves with providers. Each Supervisee assigned to the group will attend two sessions per week.
- Task 4 - Behavioral Health Anger Management Group. Facilitate a structured, evidence-based intervention consisting of 12 weekly sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. The group is designed to help Supervisees with behavioral health challenges explore the underlying causes of anger and adopt more constructive ways to manage and express it.
- Task 5 - Evidence-based Impulse Control Group. Facilitate an evidence-based impulse control curriculum to assist Supervisees in developing impulse control techniques utilizing evidence-based cognitive interventions. Groups should include developing the ability to identify triggers and disrupt destructive impulses, learning to replace harmful patterns of behavior with prosocial thoughts and behaviors, understanding the underlying roots of impulses, and gaining enhanced self-awareness and self-control. Each Supervisee assigned to the group will attend two sessions per week.
