Chief Financial Officer

One of our longstanding clients, an Award Winning regional homebuilder and developer operating throughout the Coastal Carolinas is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join the leadership team and help drive this growing business forward. We're looking for an executive that brings with them a wealth of experience in the world of New Home Construction.

This is a critical hire for the future of this business. We're looking for a long term partner who not only brings extensive finance and accounting expertise but also has a deep understanding of the broader operations of new home construction. Our ideal candidate has been successful at developing and executing strategies and innovations to build and lead strong businesses through increased sales, margin improvement, expense controls, product mix improvement and market share increases, and will relish the opportunities that a well-positioned private builder that's primed for growth will bring.

This position requires meticulous attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, and high-level financial forecasting abilities while upholding company standards for financial integrity, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and mentorship of the finance and accounting department.
• Provide insights and recommendations to guide the company's strategic decisions.
• Develop and implement financial strategies to support business growth and profitability.
• Create and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
• Monitor financial performance, identifying areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
• Lead the preparation of financial statements, reports, and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with department leaders to monitor job costs, margins, and financial projections.
• Manage relationships with banks, investors, auditors, and other financial institutions.
• Promote a culture of financial accountability and continuous improvement within the organization.
• Oversee cash flow management, ensuring optimal liquidity for business operations.
• Ensure timely completion of all financial audits and reviews.
• Support the company's growth initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, and new business ventures.
• Perform other duties and ad hoc requests as needed.
• Ensure the team's alignment with company goals and objectives, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
• At least ten years of experience in accounting/finance, with five years in a senior financial leadership role.
• Extensive experience and track record of success within the homebuilding industry.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with financial modeling.
• Experience with financial software and ERP systems (MarkSystems experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
• Proven track record of strategic financial planning and execution.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed, strategic decisions.
