Description:
This position is for a Medical-Surgical ICU nurse.
The nurse will be expected to work three 12-hour day shifts.
The daily patient census is approximately 14 with a unit capacity of 16 beds.
The unit provides care for adults and geriatric patients.
Interdisciplinary support is provided by various services including physical therapy and respiratory services.
Special procedures performed in this unit include various intensive care protocols.
The charting system used is Epic.
Essential skills include managing ventilated patients and administering blood products.
The nurse will be responsible for assessing and managing central lines and arterial lines.
Experience with CRRT and ECMO protocols is preferred.
The nurse must have the ability to manage patients with multi-system organ dysfunction.
Suctioning and phlebotomy skills are also required.
Understanding dysrhythmias and interpreting arterial blood gases is necessary.
Floating may be required based on scheduling.
Weekend coverage is expected with a designated number of shifts per contract.
The unit supports a varied patient population with diverse diagnoses.
Knowledge of infection prevention protocols is essential.
Critical thinking and effective communication skills are vital for this role.
