Accounting Specialist

CNSM is seeking a CARBO Accounting Specialist to help support the financial backbone of our academic programs. In this role, you’ll produce accurate reports, reconcile accounts, and assist faculty and staff with fiscal questions tied to both teaching and research activities. As the CARBO Accounting Specialist, you will play a central role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting faculty research activities, and helping departments make informed fiscal decisions. You’ll dive into data, run dynamic financial queries, prepare journal vouchers, track budgets, and deliver the information that keeps CNSM’s operations strong and future focused. This position also provides backup purchasing support and contributes to a variety of administrative functions—making it an excellent role for someone who enjoys variety, challenge, and meaningful work that supports scientific discovery.

Minimum Qualifications:
One year of college coursework in Accounting or related fields and two years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the Coalition of Alaska University Staff for Equity (CAUSE)-UAW.

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, AK. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and  full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the  UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 77, based on education and experience.
