Position Overview

The Pharmacy Services Representative supports pharmacy operations by providing exceptional customer service, processing prescription orders, assisting with medication dispensing activities, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations and quality standards. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and internal pharmacy teams in a fast-paced retail or mail-order pharmacy environment.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Patient Support

• Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing patient and provider inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
• Resolve customer concerns and escalate issues as appropriate.
• Follow up with patients and healthcare providers regarding prescription-related matters.
• Respond promptly to two-way text communications.
• Assist in resolving issues related to delayed, incomplete, or incorrect medication orders.

Pharmacy Operations

• Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications accurately and efficiently.
• Label, package, and prepare medications for mail-order distribution.
• Ensure prescriptions are filled correctly and meet all quality standards.
• Process prescription orders received through the mail-order system.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and prescription details for accuracy.

Clinical & Quality Support

• Perform Drug Utilization Review (DUR) checks.
• Conduct drug interaction screenings and escalate concerns to the pharmacist as necessary.
• Participate in quality assurance initiatives to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Report medication discrepancies, errors, or concerns to the supervising pharmacist.

Inventory Management

• Monitor medication inventory levels and maintain adequate stock.
• Order medications and pharmacy supplies as needed.
• Conduct routine inventory reviews and assist with inventory audits.

Documentation & Data Entry

• Enter prescription information into pharmacy management systems accurately.
• Maintain complete and compliant records of prescription transactions.
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.

Compliance & Process Improvement

• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency and accuracy.
• Assist with administrative duties and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Active Pharmacy Technician license and/or certification as required by state regulations.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail or mail-order pharmacy setting.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program.
• Pharmacy Technician Board Certification (CPhT).
• Experience performing DUR reviews and drug interaction checks.
• Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
