Tuning Technician Medical Device Manufacturing

Join a fast-paced, highly regulated medical device manufacturing team that develops and builds products used to treat serious heart conditions, with a focus on structural heart disease. In this role, you support the production of wireless handheld reader units used for pulmonary artery pressure monitoring by assembling, tuning, testing, and reworking electronic devices and circuit boards in an ISO-controlled cleanroom environment. You apply your hands-on experience with analog and digital circuits, soldering, and test equipment to ensure every device meets strict quality and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the production of wireless handheld reader units used for pulmonary artery pressure monitoring.
• Assemble and test reader devices and docking stations to ensure proper functionality and reliability.
• Work with wireless handheld reader units and associated components in a controlled cleanroom environment.
• Test analog and digital circuit boards using appropriate test equipment and procedures.
• Perform circuit board modifications as needed to meet engineering specifications and design changes.
• Complete rework on prototype units according to engineering work instructions and documentation.
• Set up and test prototype devices, documenting results and reporting issues to the engineering team.
• Use multimeters and power supplies for testing, troubleshooting, and verifying circuit performance.
• Perform soldering, including work with surface mount components, to assemble and repair circuit boards.
• Conduct basic calibrations on devices and test setups to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Build custom cable assemblies using PCB boards and related components.
• Program tablets associated with the reader units, including adjusting brightness and powering devices on and off.
• Perform basic MPI functions as required by production processes.
• Assist with packing completed kits to prepare finished products for shipment.
• Follow detailed blueprints, work instructions, and quality procedures to ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, and internal standards.
• Use hand tools, power tools, soldering tools, and tape measures safely and effectively during assembly and test activities.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with devices and assemblies.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere to contamination prevention practices in the cleanroom.
• Document work performed, test results, and any rework or modifications according to established procedures.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 23 years of relevant experience in electronics assembly, testing, or tuning.
• Hands-on experience using multimeters and power supplies for testing and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in soldering, including surface mount components.
• Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits.
• Experience working in a regulated environment, following strict procedures and documentation.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Skill in using hand tools, power tools, and tape measures for mechanical and electronic assembly.
• Capability to perform basic calibrations on devices and test setups.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
• Comfort working in an ISO-controlled cleanroom setting with strict contamination prevention practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• in aerospace, automotive, or medical device industries preferred.
• Experience with mechanical assembly or sub-assembly work.
• Familiarity with building custom cable assemblies using PCB boards.
• Experience programming tablets or similar devices (e.g., adjusting brightness, power on/off).
• Ability to perform basic MPI functions in a production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and patient safety.
• Good communication skills for collaborating with production and engineering teams.
• Ability to remain seated for most of the workday while maintaining focus on precision tasks.
• Comfort performing minimal lifting of up to approximately 12 pounds several times per day.
• Contract role aligned to a defined project timeline from June through October.

Work Environment

The role is based in a fast-paced, highly regulated medical device manufacturing facility that operates under strict FDA, GMP, and quality standards. Work takes place in an ISO-controlled cleanroom environment focused on contamination prevention, precision, and patient safety. You primarily work in a seated position for most of the day, with minimal lifting of up to approximately 12 pounds about five times per day. The standard schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You regularly use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, tape measures, multimeters, power supplies, and other test equipment to assemble and tune electronic devices and circuit boards. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to documented procedures, with appropriate cleanroom attire and protective equipment required to maintain product quality and safety.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
