About the Position

First-time travelers are accepted. Patient diagnoses include appendicitis, cholecystitis, small bowel obstruction, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, hypertension, hypo/hyperglycemia, prostatectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, ostomy creation/reversal, exploratory laparoscopy, and bowel resections. Familiarity with equipment such as NGT, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and wound vacs is essential. Staffing ratio is 1:6, with an average daily census of 27. Unit is equipped with Epic and Pyxis systems. Scrub color is navy blue. Travel may involve floating within the facility as needed. No call requirements are associated with this position. Holidays are expected to be worked as specified. Full compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary to start on time. A clinical screen will determine clinical fit. Locals are accepted at the same rate. The candidate should demonstrate competencies in accessing/managing ports, administration of chemotherapy, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and more. Experience with telemetry, wound care, and post-operative management is preferred. Daily patient ratios are typically 5-6. Compliance requirements must be met prior to the start of the assignment.
