The Opportunity WSDOT is currently seeking a Secretary Senior to support the Olympic Region Headquarters, and other staff. This position provides the first line of communication with the public and serves as a resource for the Olympic Region. This position independently performs a variety of complex administrative duties and is critical in fostering a respectful and healthy work environment. What to Expect Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you/the Secretary Senior will:

• Establish office procedures, standards, priorities, and deadlines.
• Create or revise electronic or manual files.
• Maintain fiscal records, complete or process requisitions, process and tracks invoices and payments and process tax assessments.
• Maintain calendars and make appointments, schedules, and arrange meetings, make room reservations.
• Prepare travel arrangements for supervisor and staff, maintain records of travel itineraries and compile final travel expense reports.
• Compose, edit, and distribute internal memos, and external letters to WSDOT partners and the public.
• Distributer incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail and packages.

Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:

• High school diploma or GED

AND

• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible office experience

OR

• Equivalent combination of education/experience

In addition:

• Proven experience working with diverse populations in a customer service environment to include de-escalating upset customers and diffusing conflict.
• Proficient ability in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities and changing deadlines.

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:

• Proven experience with payroll and timekeeping.
• Proven experience as a receptionist answering incoming calls, greeting customers, and professionally representing an organization.

Important Notes

• In addition to the salary range listed, a general wage increase of 3% will be applied for all state employees on July 1, 2025.
• In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28of the Washington Administrative Code.
