HEALTH UNIT COORDINATOR - FIXED, FH - SURGERY

Location & Employment Details Location: US:WI:MILWAUKEE at our FROEDTERT HOSPITAL facility. Job type: On site Full‑time equivalent: 1.0 Standard hours: 40.00 per week Shift: 0900-1730, Monday‑Friday (weekends and holidays not required, though pick‑up opportunities may arise). Job Summary The Health Unit Coordinator provides clerical and system coordination and support for the inpatient care areas. Responsibilities include coordinating nursing unit communication and activities with physicians, nursing staff, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families related to patient care. The Coordinator manages the desk area of the inpatient unit, facilitates the use of technology, and coordinates downtime procedures. Other duties as assigned. Experience Minimum of 6 months experience as a Health Unit Coordinator is preferred. Education Medical terminology knowledge required or must satisfactorily complete a course within the first 6 months of employment. High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. Completion of a formal Health Unit Coordinator training program is preferred. Special Skills Must have the ability to adapt to changes in a fast‑paced work environment. Exemplary telephone etiquette and customer service skills are required. Possesses analytical skills to gather and interpret routine data, maintain semi‑complex records, and organize work. Interpersonal skills to gather and exchange information with patients, visitors, and hospital staff in a courteous and supportive manner. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Working knowledge of Windows office systems and all office equipment preferred. Licensure HUC certification is preferred.
