Payrate: To maintain internal equity, we have identified the pay range for this position at the Oakland Zoo as $28.68 to $30.73 per hour. An offer within this range will be determined by the experience and qualifications of a candidate and will be our best and final compensation offer, in alignment with Oakland Zoo's compensation philosophy.

Position Summary

The Individual Giving Coordinator is responsible for supporting fundraising programs that solicit one-time and renewable gifts from individuals in support of the Zoo’s annual operating budget, ongoing capital projects and programmatic initiatives. This position executes strategies that help to increase donor investment and distinguish the Oakland Zoo as a leader in animal wellbeing, conservation and education.

Essential Job Duties

• Execute the Zoo’s annual fundraising event(s).
• Support efforts to increase individual and planned giving through execution of multi-channel appeals and campaigns.
• Support execution of specific plans for donor acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship throughout the year, including year-end campaign.
• Participate in data collection, maintenance, tracking and analysis activities to support individual giving and Development team.
• Learn and leverage fundraising tools and technology as they are adopted and/or evolve.
• Collaborate across teams to promote special giving programs, including commemorative gifts, monthly giving, naming opportunities, programmatic and capital initiatives, etc.
• Coordinate with Individual Giving Manager and team to maintain updated donor collateral, solicitation appeals, including acquisition, renewals, and donor updates. Project manage the Zoo’s annual Impact Report.
• Conduct fulfillment for the Zoo’s Friends of the Wild program (unrestricted gifts $1,000 and greater), including acknowledgement, recognition, membership, and benefits.
• Support onsite, print and digital donor recognition initiatives.
• Plan and execute cultivation and stewardship events and special access opportunities in collaboration with the team.
• Liaise with Zoo vendors and contractors in support of fundraising activities.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Who You Are:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, which must include 2 years of experience in fundraising.
• Experience in event planning and implementation required.
• Self-starter, well-organized, and detail-oriented.
• Able to follow priorities, manage multiple projects.
• Proficient with computers and standard applications (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Zoom, and PowerPoint).
• Demonstrate superior service with donors, prospects, vendors, volunteers, and staff.
• Adept at cross-departmental collaboration, characterized by effective communications, a positive attitude and shared goals.
• Able to work flexible hours on occasion, including weekends, evenings and holidays.

Bonus if you have:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree and/or college course and professional training in fundraising development and/or non-profits.
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge (fundraising software) and Galaxy (point of sale).

Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

• Primarily office-based with occasional Oakland Zoo grounds visits.
• Standard business hours with some flexibility.
• Limited remote work may be available after an evaluation period and is dependent on ongoing performance assessments.
