Job Overview Business Unit: 21800 Pretrial Services Officer 2 #10114757-21800, Full‑Time, Permanent in Albuquerque, NM. Target Pay Range/Rate: $29.356 per hour or $61,060.48 annually. The Administrative Office of the Courts is recruiting for a full‑time, permanent Pretrial Services Officer 2 in Albuquerque, NM. This position works with a dynamic team to assist with all aspects of statewide pretrial quality assurance, case management oversight, and program support across the state. Based in a central remote unit in Albuquerque, the Pretrial Officer II serves as an essential backup for local sites. In this role, you will provide assistance to the AOC Pretrial Management Team to support future operational scaling and training initiatives. The main duties include handling quality assurance (QA) reports and monitoring case supervision statewide. Using knowledge from daily QA reports, you may also assist with case reviews of different court sites to maintain case management system data and supervision guidelines. Additionally, this position provides temporary backup support, such as virtual intake and remote supervision, when local pretrial services programs need coverage. The role also assists with onboarding and training new pretrial officers on program standards, supports the Background Investigation team with NCIC checks as needed, and performs other miscellaneous administrative tasks as assigned. Responsibilities Conduct thorough pre‑release and pre‑adjudication background investigations on defendants. Formulate appropriate release plans and case management plans based on statutes, rules, court appearances and criminal history. Supervise a defendant’s compliance with court‑ordered programs and conditions of release. Perform as a judicial designee in formulating appropriate recommendations for release eligibility, sanctions, and detention. Release defendants from custody based on court‑ordered release conditions. Document all interactions and update case management assessment. Oversee supervision contracts and supervision protocol based on program policies. Verify defendant’s needs and develop multifaceted treatment support or referrals. Determine eligibility for specialty court programs. Provide case management services based on the defendant’s need and court‑ordered conditions of release. Maintain and administer alcohol and drug screening protocols and equipment. Collaborate with treatment providers and monitor defendant compliance reports. Document and notify the court of defendant’s compliance to recommend appropriate action. Participate and provide input during court proceedings and other agency meetings. Provide treatment information options to judges, treatment providers, and community members. Monitor defendant’s compliance using electronic monitoring technology. Perform scheduled and spontaneous site visits to participant’s home, school, work or other locations to monitor program compliance. Other duties as assigned. Competencies and Qualifications The successful applicant should demonstrate knowledge of court‑ordered programs; case management techniques; pre‑adjudication supervision procedures and sanctions; rules and statutes governing bond/bail and release from detention; formulating appropriate release plans; treatment, rehabilitation and support programs, options and community providers; sentencing guidelines; governmental court rules, policies and procedures, operations, structure, forms; NM law, civil and criminal procedure; legal terminology; substance abuse and mental health symptomology, counseling and treatment; physical and psychotropic medication; mediation techniques; investigative techniques using governmental investigative resources; drug screening methods and equipment; protocol, interpretation, and technology; and electronic monitoring equipment and technology. Work Environment and Physical Demands Work is performed in an office or court setting. A valid driver's license and travel may be required. The assigned work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Education Substitution: Four (4) years of directly related or relevant experience may substitute on a year for year basis. Experience: Three (3) years experience in criminal justice, social services, probation, corrections or related field. Experience Substitution: None. Other: Must obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six (6) months of hire.
