Warehouse Specialist II - Full Time

Summary Perform a variety of warehouse duties and responsibilities to ensure the consistent flow and accurate documentation of materials throughout the donated goods and retail division. Duties vary and Warehouse Specialists may be assigned to assist drivers, work within warehouse/workshops, handle baling duties, and move materials with forklifts while utilizing hand and other power equipment, keeping accurate records both with manual sheets and/or Warehouse Management System (WMS) scanning equipment. Duties and Responsibilities Complete understanding of safe forklift operations, including pre‑shift inspection, mechanical awareness, constant safety awareness within a busy warehouse environment, and post‑shift inspection of forklift. Perform general dock operation including loading and unloading trucks using forklifts and other power equipment, following load sequence for outbound trailers, correctly dispersing inbound materials, keeping the dock area free and clear of all furniture, bags, etc. for safe maneuvering of equipment, maintaining accurate records of material movement using both WMS and/or manual tracking, ensuring proper loading procedures to guarantee load stability and weight distribution, and accurately completing truck manifests and load diagrams. Daily perform the following duties: maintain property safety; pick up trash around the building and grass areas; empty trash, sweep dock area; weed grounds around the facility; snow and ice removal; outside maintenance and lawn care. Assist the baler operation: weigh and store bales; record necessary information; maintain supplies; remove all bale bins from processing and transport to baler; return all containers to the proper place in the processing department; relocate salvage materials and load onto trucks. May be assigned to lead a team on special assignments as required. Assist the Loss Prevention department in asset protection activities. Present an appropriate appearance and provide good customer service to the general public and coworkers. Promote an environment of workplace safety; ensure duties are performed safely and safety requirements are adhered to. Communicate progress, concerns and issues to Distribution Center Supervisor in a timely manner. Qualifications Education and Experience No formal education necessary. Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Must be able to read, write and perform simple math. Must present a neat appearance and communicate effectively with the general public and interdepartmental contacts. Must have at least one year of experience in a warehouse environment. Must have current certification for powered industrial equipment with 6‑month verifiable experience and demonstrate skills with multiple types of powered industrial equipment including forklift, stackers, and walk‑behind jacks. Must be able to work with power equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, trash compactors, balers, and operate equipment following all safety guidelines at all times. Must have the flexibility to work overtime and varied hours, including Saturdays and Sundays. This is a safety‑sensitive position and employee must: Pass a drug test pre‑hire, post‑accident, or work‑related injury. Physical Requirements Ability to work in all weather extremes. Ability to work around dust, dirt, fumes, and varied noise levels. Ability to walk and stand for a full day. Ability to stand continuously for more than 75% of the shift. Ability to climb, stoop, crouch, reach, and bend. Ability to bend, kneel and stoop to open and close doors and secure loads for 10% of the shift. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally. Ability to push and pull various carts requiring a force of 50 pounds over a distance of 150 feet for 25% of the shift. Ability to push and pull manual pallet jacks with gaylords or other material requiring an initial force of 60 pounds over a distance of 100 feet for 25% of the shift. Ability to push and pull the speed lift requiring an initial force of 60 pounds over a distance of 20 feet up to four times per shift. Ability to lift 50 pounds from ground level to waist level frequently for more than 75% of the shift. Ability to lift 75 pounds from ground level to waist level once per shift. Ability to step up 24 inches at a time onto forklifts and/or truck cab steps for 10% of the shift. Visual and hearing acuity (with correction) that meets standard vision and hearing test criteria.
