Speech Language Pathologist

Evaluate and deliver therapy services to adults and school-aged children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group homes, adult day programs and/or outpatient medical facilities. Key / Essential Functions & Responsibilities Evaluates and develops therapeutic plans to address oral motor, communication, and feeding needs of the PWS and provides Speech and Language Habilitation/Rehabilitation services for the patient as ordered by a physician. Treats PWS with disabilities, disorders, and injuries related to the area of Speech Language Pathology. Makes use of therapeutic devices and other equipment to prevent regression or restore maximum performance of speech and language modalities. Plans, directs and supervises PWS, family and/or significant other in the use of equipment and exercise regimen. Participates in patient communication and interdisciplinary care planning for individual patient needs. Contemporaneous documentation using electronic health records. Meet productivity expectation. Participate in scheduled supervision. Minimum Qualification Requirements Including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.). Current SLP New York State License or qualifies for receiving license after completing all requirements. Current Certificate of Clinical completion in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association or qualifies for receiving certificate after completing all requirements. Meets the education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology. A minimum of one year Speech Therapy experience in a health care setting working with individuals with Developmental Delays preferred. Preferred Qualification Requirements Experience with the I/DD population (2+ years is preferable). Dysphagia experience, a big plus. AAC experience strongly preferred but not required.
