Travel required from there

Hours: Mon-Fri 8am- 4:30pm (Flexibility needed for project and after hours work) .

Rate: $25/hr

OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Environmental Services Supervisoris responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination, and quality oversight of a team of Environmental Services Specialists. Daily tasks also include performance of specialized environmental and maintenance activities. This position ensures that assigned facilities receive timely, safe, and high-quality exterior maintenance, deep cleaning, environmental services, facility support, and specialized maintenance activities.

The Environmental Services Supervisor plans and assigns daily and project-based work, monitors completion and quality, coordinates schedules and priorities, provides hands-on support, and ensures employees have the appropriate equipment, materials, training, and resources to perform their responsibilities effectively.

The position serves as the primary operational lead for the Environmental Services team and works closely with Access: Business Solutions (A:BS) leadership, program staff, vendors, contractors, and other agency departments to address facility needs and maintain safe, functional, and well-maintained environments.

This team may work on variable schedules to complete assignments outside normal business hours.


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS :

Team Supervision and Work Coordination

• Directly supervise and provide day-to-day leadership to Environmental Services Specialists.
• Assign daily, weekly, seasonal, and project-based work based on facility priorities, workload, employee capabilities, and operational needs.
• Develop and maintain work schedules to ensure required services are completed within established timelines.
• Monitor employee attendance, productivity, work quality, and adherence to established procedures.
• Provide clear direction, coaching, training, and performance feedback to assigned employees.
• Conduct or assist with employee performance evaluations and development planning.
• Identify training needs and coordinate appropriate training for equipment operation, safety, cleaning procedures, vehicle operation, and other job responsibilities.
• Ensure adequate coverage and continuity of services during employee absences, vacations, or other staffing changes.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a strong customer-service orientation.
• Address performance concerns promptly and escalate significant issues to leadership in accordance with agency procedures.

Preventive and Routine Facility Maintenance

• Coordinate and perform preventive and routine maintenance activities
• Develop recurring schedules for deep cleaning, exterior maintenance, seasonal services, floor care, window cleaning, and other facility-support activities.
• Ensure assigned work is completed according to established standards and facility requirements.
• Monitor the condition of buildings, grounds, equipment, furnishings, and other facility assets.
• Identify maintenance needs that require additional resources, specialized contractors, or capital investment.
• Coordinate with A:BS leadership regarding repairs, projects, and maintenance priorities.

Exterior Maintenance Oversight

• Plan, perform and supervise exterior maintenance activities, including:
• Power washing buildings, fences, decks, sheds, sidewalks, and other exterior surfaces.
• Deck inspections and identification of deterioration or water-related concerns.
• Deck waterproofing and sealing.
• Seasonal exterior cleanup and facility preparation.
• Ensure pressure washers and other exterior equipment are operated safely and maintained appropriately.
• Review completed work to ensure appropriate quality, appearance, and coverage.
• Identify exterior safety hazards and ensure corrective action is initiated.

Deep Cleaning and Specialized Services

• Coordinate, perform, and inspect deep-cleaning activities, including:
• Bathroom deep cleaning and grout cleaning.
• High dusting.
• Vent and register cleaning.
• Baseboard and trim cleaning.
• Wall cleaning.
• Light fixture and ceiling fan cleaning.
• Interior window cleaning.
• Ground-level exterior window cleaning.
• Carpet shampooing and extraction.
• Floor stripping, waxing, and refinishing.
• Junk removal and facility cleanouts.
• Establish appropriate work methods and sequencing for large-scale or specialized cleaning projects.
• Inspect completed work and ensure deficiencies are corrected.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Facility Inspections and Safety

• Conduct visual facility inspections to identify maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and environmental concerns.
• Coordinate basement inspections to identify clutter, blocked exits, combustible materials, fire hazards, water intrusion, or other unsafe conditions.
• Ensure identified hazards are documented, reported, and addressed appropriately.
• Maintain awareness of OSHA, fire safety, environmental, and agency-specific requirements applicable to assigned work.
• Ensure employees use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Investigate or document incidents, accidents, property damage, equipment failures, and other safety concerns as required.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure employees follow safe work practices.

Moving, Assembly, and Facility Support

• Coordinate facility moves, room reconfigurations, cleanouts, deliveries, and setup activities.
• Supervise and perform, as needed, the movement of furniture, equipment, supplies, and other materials.
• Ensure proper lifting, carrying, and material-handling practices are followed.
• Coordinate assembly of complex, non-medical equipment, furniture, shelving, and fixtures.
• Ensure employees have appropriate tools and equipment for assembly assignments.
• Provide hands-on assistance with complex, urgent, or high-priority assignments when necessary.

Vehicle and Trailer Operations

• Supervise the safe use of agency trucks, trailers, and other authorized vehicles.
• Ensure employees assigned to operate vehicles and trailers meet all licensing, training, and agency requirements.
• Coordinate transportation of equipment, furniture, supplies, debris, and materials.
• Ensure required vehicle and trailer inspections are completed.
• Monitor vehicle condition and report maintenance or repair needs.
• Ensure compliance with agency vehicle policies, applicable traffic laws, and safe-driving requirements.

Work Order and Documentation Management

• Receive, prioritize, assign, and monitor facility service requests and work orders.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work.
• Track recurring activities to ensure services are completed on schedule.
• Document deficiencies, corrective actions, and outstanding facility needs.
• Provide regular status updates to A:BS leadership.
• Maintain appropriate documentation related to employee assignments, equipment use, inspections, and facility projects.
• Assist with developing workload data and reports to evaluate staffing, productivity, and service requirements.

Quality Assurance and Customer Service

• Establish and maintain quality standards for work performed by the Environmental Services team.
• Conduct routine quality inspections of completed assignments.
• Follow up on deficiencies and ensure corrective action is completed.
• Maintain effective communication with program and administrative staff regarding facility needs.
• Respond professionally to service requests, concerns, and complaints.
• Coordinate with facility occupants to minimize disruption to programs and operations.
• Ensure the team provides consistent, reliable, and customer-focused facility services.

Equipment, Supplies, and Inventory

• Monitor the condition and availability of cleaning, maintenance, safety, and facility-support equipment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, stored, and secured.
• Identify equipment repair and replacement needs.
• Monitor inventory levels for commonly used supplies and materials.
• Submit supply and equipment requests in accordance with agency procedures.
• Ensure employees are trained and authorized to operate assigned equipment.

Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services team.
• Establish clear expectations for productivity, quality, safety, attendance, and customer service.
• Balance routine workload with emergency, urgent, and project-based assignments.
• Adjust staffing and priorities as facility needs change.
• Assist with development of standard operating procedures, checklists, inspection forms, and maintenance schedules.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase efficiency, service quality, and accountability.
• Promote cross-training to ensure adequate coverage and operational continuity.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES :

• Knowledge of commercial cleaning, deep cleaning, floor care, exterior maintenance, and general facility-support practices.
• Knowledge of basic building and facility maintenance principles.
• Ability to supervise, coach, and develop employees effectively.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments and competing deadlines.
• Ability to inspect work and evaluate quality against established standards.
• Ability to identify safety hazards, maintenance deficiencies, and facility concerns.
• Ability to safely operate or oversee the operation of pressure washers, floor machines, carpet extractors, vacuums, hand tools, power tools, and other facility equipment.
• Ability to operate trucks and trailers safely, or effectively supervise employees who operate them.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, equipment manuals, safety procedures, and other documentation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while exercising appropriate judgment regarding priorities and escalation.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, vendors, contractors, and facility occupants.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, facilities management, or related education preferred.
• Three or more years of experience in facilities maintenance, environmental services, commercial cleaning, property maintenance, construction support, or a related field preferred.
• Prior supervisory or lead-worker experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with specialized cleaning, floor care, pressure washing, facility maintenance, or related services.
• Experience operating or supervising the operation of trucks and trailers preferred.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required for positions involving agency vehicle operation.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

The position is physically active and requires the employee to regularly:

• Able to perform repetitive lifting and moving of items weighing up to 50 pounds and performing work that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, and climbing ladders.

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, furniture, supplies, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Operate powered cleaning and maintenance equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Work in basements, mechanical/support areas, and other facility environments.
• Perform elevated cleaning activities using appropriate equipment.
• Work around cleaning chemicals, dust, dirt, debris, noise, and other environmental conditions associated with facility maintenance and cleaning activities.
