Overview Under indirect supervision/assistance, this position is responsible for the daily maintenance operation of the site. Responsibilities Manage the day‑to‑day operations of 3 or more employees, ensuring maintenance schedules are met efficiently, safely, and with an employee‑oriented focus. Perform and manage daily system maintenance and repair of applicable operations as necessary. Ensure adherence to company training programs. Directly supervise all daily assignments, scheduling and overseeing mechanics and/or technicians in the ground support equipment, facilities, boarding bridge and/or baggage handling areas. Review and monitor personnel assignments, including issuance and completion of work orders. Coordinate repairs, maintenance, and overhauls with airport and airline staff to minimize customer downtime. Manage the daily preventive maintenance program. Assist with budgeting and site finances. Possibly manage parts inventory. Resolve technical issues. Maintain daily turnover reports. Develop employee commitment to quality and promote a concept of zero defects and continuous improvement. Train, develop, and motivate site personnel toward company objectives. Conduct performance appraisals and disciplinary actions. Work in accordance with company regulations, procedures, and customer requirements. Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, manner, and communication with company and customer personnel. Monitor the company’s quality program and ensure implementation of standards. Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, state, local, and company safety laws and regulations; coordinate safety matters with the company safety officer. Maintain site morale and customer satisfaction. Perform additional duties or assignments as requested by management. Qualifications High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience. At least 3 years of experience in a related trade. Ability to read and understand basic electrical and hydraulic schematics. Own standard hand tools common to the trade. Willingness to work non‑traditional schedules, including weekends and holidays. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree in a related field. Previous work experience in an airport environment. Strong hydraulic/pneumatic troubleshooting experience. State and/or ASE certification in automotive and diesel repair or related field. 5+ years of experience directly related to the position (e.g., GSE, conveyor, bridge). 4+ years of direct experience in a GSE airport shop. 3+ years’ experience working in a CMMS. 3 years’ experience mentoring, guiding, and directing employees in a similar job group. 3 years’ experience in leadership within a related field. Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures. Supervisory experience in an airport environment. OSHA 10 or 30 certification. Computer Skills Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e‑mail, scanning, and copying equipment. Other Requirements Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security badge. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s insurance policy. Must comply with the ELS drug and alcohol policy. Physical Demands Lifting and carrying: 10‑20 lbs occasionally; 21‑50 lbs infrequently; 51+ lbs infrequently. Push/pull: up to 20 lbs occasionally; 21‑50 lbs infrequently; 51+ lbs infrequently. Standing, walking, sitting, bending, crawling, squatting, stooping, climbing, and balancing as required. Hands and fingers frequently handling tools. Reach outward or above shoulder infrequently. Driving occasionally. Work Environment Varies between office settings and all areas located on airport property; may involve dust, dirt, and noise levels below OSHA minimum requirements.
