Job Description
ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our critical care team. This position requires a high level of clinical expertise and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering exceptional patient care.

Position Summary

The ICU Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role demands strong critical thinking skills, effective communication, and a commitment to fostering a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in accordance with established standards and protocols.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, making prompt decisions to address changes in status.
• Administer medications and titrate drips as required, including vasopressors, paralytics, and sedatives.
• Participate in the initiation and management of advanced therapies, including CRRT, ICP monitoring, and rapid transfusion protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, and allied health professionals in the planning and implementation of patient care.
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding care plans and health management.
• Read and interpret cardiac telemetry as necessary.
• Float to other inpatient units as needed, excluding specialized areas such as maternity and NICU.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in an ICU setting.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Unit Information

• Bed Capacity: 34
• Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, and 1:5-6 in Med-Surg.
• Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and cardiac conditions.
• Equipped with advanced monitoring and therapeutic technologies such as Draeger heart monitors and other critical care equipment.

Scheduling and Orientation

• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts.
• Orientation includes 2 shifts specific to unit procedures and policies.
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend; holiday requirements: 2 out of 3 major holidays.
