Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Minimum 1 year of current acute care PCU hospital experience Description: Travel opportunity for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit. The unit consists of 30 beds with a staffing ratio of 1 Charge RN, 5-8 RNs, and 2-4 PCTs during the day shift. The night shift has a similar structure. Patient ratios are typically 1:4, often in a 1:5 ratio. The types of equipment utilized include tele monitors, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, tracheostomy care, BIPAP, CPAP, and chest tubes. Electronic medical records are managed using Meditech. Candidates without the required skills will not be considered for the role. Preferred qualifications include chest tube management, experience with pacer wire removal, EKG competency, and oxygen management skills. The unit performs various procedures including post-catheterization care and pre/post-operative care for high-acuity cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries. Ideal candidates should be great team players, exhibit high energy, be flexible and adaptable, and value communication and collaboration. The unit is known for its fast-paced environment and challenges faced in providing care for cardiac patients.
