The focus will be to reduce equipment downtime and optimize tool's reliability.The Tooling Engineer will work first shift and longer hours when required. This is an onsite role.Key ResponsibilitiesImprove fabrication process through tooling design, tooling PM, design changes, and process improvementsDesign, develop and test tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges, using CADRecommend materials for tool production based on durability, cost, and functionAnalyze and improve current tooling methods to increase efficiency and reduce costGenerate frequency and standard work for tool/die preventative maintenanceAnalyze quality of fabricated components and develop tool design/maintenance actions to improveWork within the toolroom and in the operations department to ensure tools are operating at peak efficiencyAddress problems and make / implement solution to improve efficiencies, process, product flow, safety, and qualityReport all necessary quality, production, and safety problems to StakeholdersDocument changes and revise detail prints and/or procedures to track the results of die repairs, modifications and improvements as they are madeImplement and drive a robust tooling preventive maintenance programPrepare quotes and purchase replacement details, according to budgetEstablish quarterly goals and objectives with Manager and StakeholdersReview and update print GD&T (software application) based on product requirements and process capabilitiesSupport internal PPAP process for internally fabricated componentsDrive continuous improvements efforts i.e., tooling cost reductions, improve usage or lower price without sacrificing qualityTroubleshoot any problems that are presented during production or on the benchBasic QualificationsAssociate's degree with 7+ years' experience (tool/die design and engineering)ORBachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience (tool/die design and engineering)Preferred QualificationsStamping press and/or tooling troubleshooting experienceEnergetic, hands-on; able to drive change and continuous improvementExperience applying Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing principlesFoster positive relationships with production and skilled trades employees, peers and manufacturing managementWork with minimal guidance and directionEnglish written and verbal communication skillsExperience in an union environmentStrong computer and system skills, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Solid WorksAdditional informationMust have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA.No visa sponsoring availablePay RangeThe annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually.
