Lead Baker

She Wolf Bakery is seeking a Lead Baker at our Brooklyn Navy Yard location. We work exclusively with local, organic grains, and specialize in naturally fermented doughs.

This is a position on our 10am team, working 8-9 hours/day, 5 days/week. W e offer regular schedules, but not permanent ones, so flexibility is required. This position will also require you to work weekends and some holidays. The starting rate of pay for this position is $24/hr. After a 90-day introductory period, all employees receive a review of their performance and rate of pay.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist the management team in leading bakery operations by:
  • Overseeing daily shift production, ensuring standard processes are being followed and quality maintained
  • Training new bakers on shaping, mixing, and baking our full slate of offerings 
  • Problem solving as production or quality issues arise
  • Acting as the liaison between management and hourly staff in communicating operational changes, production and/or repairs & maintenance issues, etc.
• Support open, respectful, and productive communication across all teams 
• Work with the management team to establish and achieve clear individual performance goals 

Successful candidates will:

• Have a passion for naturally leavened bread and experience in a professional bakery with solid production skills and a passion for their craft.
• Bring detail and care to their work while multi-tasking in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

While performing the duties of the job, a Lead Baker is regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
