Required Education

• 3+ years of payroll experience in a large company setting
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with intermediate level Excel skills
• Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between HR policies/programs and payroll
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize competing demands and work well under pressure
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proactive with excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience
• Experience with SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) or other major HCM system
• End-to-end processing of multi-frequency union payroll
• Union payroll experience
• Experience with payroll testing or system upgrades

Overview:
This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees within a large company, multi-state, union environment. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of internal processes, compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations as well as company policies, and the ability to handle complex issues. The successful candidate will also have basic knowledge of payroll accounting, wage and hour laws, and SOX compliance.
Responsibilities include end-to-end processing of multi-frequency union and non-union payrolls, audit and reconciliation of HR and payroll data, compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, payroll integration and bank file reconciliation, garnishment setup and support, employee inquiry resolution, payroll regulation monitoring, relationship management with HR and IT, testing support for system upgrades and tax updates, and special projects as assigned.

Job Duties
• End-to-end processing of multi-frequency union and non-union payrolls
• Audit and reconciliation of HR and payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy
• Ensure data is compliant with federal, state and local tax regulations including multistate taxation rules
• Reconcile payroll integration and bank files
• Provide timely and compliant response and set up of employee garnishments
• Provide ad hoc reports to internal customers as required
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, providing timely and accurate information and resolving discrepancies
• Keep abreast of payroll related regulations
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners including Human Resources and IT
• Provide testing support for system upgrades and periodic tax updates
• Special projects as assigned

Specific Details to call attention to.
• Excel test will be conducted during the 2nd round in-person interview
• Timed test will include pivot tables, formulas, and related Excel skills
• Onsite full time is required
• Flexibility for overtime and changing daily tasks is important
• SAP ECP experience is highly preferred
• Union payroll experience is a nice to have
