About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Clinic, Ambulatory Care, Urgent Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Urgent care hours 8 am - 8 pm; shifts vary across days and hours Hours per Shift: 36 guaranteed Experience: Minimum of 2 years in urgent care within the last 2 years License: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Must-Have: Proof of flu vaccine required Description: This position functions within the Urgent Care Department to assist patients and medical staff within the ambulatory care setting. The role is responsible for the overall operation of the clinic. Maintains skill sets, annual competencies, certifications, and participates in educational programs within the clinic as assigned. Completes all mandatory training and attends staff meetings. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures. Maintains a clean and safe working environment, including adequate supplies and upkeep of unit and equipment. Reports any defective or missing equipment and safety hazards. Refers unresolved problems with patients, coworkers, or visitors to the department manager or administrative manager for resolution. Addresses employee concerns consistent with Human Resources Policy. Key essential functions include providing clinical services and collaborating with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure excellent quality of care and services. Provides leadership and direction to the clinic staff to ensure the efficient operation of all aspects of the clinic. Maintains medication inventory and supplies not on the Warehouse PAR system. Ensures that necessary quality control checks are done for Point of Care tests. Documents all care and services provided accurately and timely. Oversees the opening and closing of provider clinics. Assists providers and other staff as needed, anticipating the needs of individuals to ensure efficient and quality patient care. Communicates effectively with other departments to be a resource for patients, providers, and fellow clinic staff. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing processes and applies this in the working environment. Exhibits customer service principles, safety, and infection control principles. Possesses skills in completing assessments, anticipation of needs, and specimen collection. Uses equipment such as computers and medical equipment effectively. Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Functions as a team player and is willing to teach when appropriate. Utilizes problem-solving and critical thinking skills to maintain good working relations with other staff and departments. Shows willingness to ask for help when encountering new or challenging situations. Physical demands include regularly talking or hearing, frequently standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally need to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The role requires lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
