Thank you for considering a career with the Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY).The team at RFCUNY is made up of dedicated, talented professionals committed to providing the services that allow CUNY researchers, faculty, and staff to focus on their intellectual curiosity and scientific discoveries.We are pleased that you are interested in exploring opportunities to join RFCUNY.Primary Location:OFFICE OF SR VC FOR UNIVERSITY RELATIONSBargaining Unit:NoPosition SummaryReporting to the Executive Director, the Staff Attorney will provide consultations on immigration-related issues and application assistance at the immigration center.The Staff Attorney will primarily focus on providing legal assistance in the areas of naturalization and family based immigration law.Duties and Responsibilities:Counsels participants on immigration law and related issuesAssists participants in the completion and review of immigration application/petitionsReviews and authorizes release of applications and petitions completed by paralegal staffEnsures that staff and volunteers are complying with work policies and proceduresConducts immigration workshops and seminars to benefit staff, participants, and targeted communitiesInterprets immigration laws, rulings, and regulations for staff and community partnersAnalyzes complex immigration case types e.g. criminal convictions and fraudEnsures data and reports are compiled on the services renderedReports regularly to the Executive Director on the provision of services and outreach to the communityThis is a hybrid position with at least 2 days in office and requires travel within NYCOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:J.D. and State Bar admissionSome immigration experience and/or passion about immigrant issues preferredSecond language requirement is preferredExcellent supervisory skills including the ability to oversee and guide the work product and professional development of staff and volunteersAbility to work in an open environment with limited privacyExcellent communications, interpersonal, writing and legal writing skills; customer service focusFlexibility, self-motivation and the ability to motivate othersAbility to work independently as well as with a team in order to further the mission of CCNWillingness to work on weekends and/or occasional eveningsPay Range:Minimum - Maximum: $81,600RFCUNY BenefitsEqual Employment Opportunity StatementThe Research Foundation of the City University of New York is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Americans with Disabilities Act/E-Verify Employer.
