Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is an experienced accounting professional responsible for supporting complex accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation, and control-related activities across the Bank's accounting operations. This role requires progressively responsible accounting experience and sound technical judgment in areas such as month-end close, journal entries, complex general ledger reconciliations, audit support, internal controls, and financial reporting. In addition to core senior accountant responsibilities, this position supports specialized and higher-complexity accounting functions, including tax provision and deferred tax entries, consolidation accounting and multi-entity accounting for the Banks and Holding Company, CECL ACL Reserves, regulatory reporting and support for charitable foundations.

Essential duties and responsibilities include preparing, analyzing, and evaluating tax-related journal entries for all legal entities, monthly journal entries for Investments in Subsidiary Entities and related consolidation eliminations, monthly journal entries and quarterly reporting related to CECL ACL reserves, monthly journal entries for the two charitable foundations, and quarterly regulatory reporting for both Banks and the Holding Company. The role also involves assisting in the completion and analysis of the Annual Report, performing and reviewing complex monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, researching reconciling items, responding to accounting, reporting, reconciliation, regulatory, and control-related inquiries, participating in departmental and bank-wide projects, supporting internal and external audits, maintaining a strong understanding of general ledger reporting, and assisting with other complex accounting, financial reporting, regulatory, reconciliation, and control-related functions within the department.

The Senior Accountant must adhere to the Company's privacy and data security policies, including safeguarding sensitive information and complying with relevant regulations to protect non-public information. The role also requires the ability and desire to embrace and enhance the Company culture.

Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferred, including experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA License is a plus, but not a requirement. Bank experience is a plus, not a requirement. Experience with Prologue general ledger system and FIS core processing system is a plus, but not a requirement. Proficiency in the MS Office suite for use in primary duties is required.

Skills required include strong technical accounting knowledge, sound analytical judgment, working knowledge of banking, regulatory reporting, and specialized accounting matters, strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and ability to manage recurring deadlines, proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and ability to use accounting, general ledger, and core processing systems effectively, and strong communication, collaboration, and continuous learning skills.

Additional job requirements include the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, read, interpret, and prepare business, banking, regulatory, proposal, contract, and client documentation, apply business- and financial-related concepts, analysis, or calculations as appropriate to the role, and perform work primarily in a professional office environment with occasional travel within the market area and occasional lifting or moving of materials up to 10 pounds. The pay range for this position is $70,634.14 to $94,519.09 per year and is the lowest to highest salary Charlesbridge in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The Company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.
