This contract role is perfect for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) eager to make an impact in a supportive, collaborative school environment near Bronx, NY. Begin by working a few hours per week, with the exciting potential to transition to full-time (up to 40 hours) as student caseloads increase.

As part of a passionate team dedicated to empowering young learners, you’ll help shape the early educational experiences of children receiving both individual and group occupational therapy within classrooms of 10 students. Each classroom is designed for success, with both a special education teacher and a 1:1 teaching assistant for every child, ensuring a holistic, team-based approach to care.

Qualifications:

• Current certification as a COTA with eligibility to practice in New York
• Previous experience—or strong interest—in working within school settings, preferably in Early Intervention or pediatric settings
• Compassionate and flexible mindset eager to adapt to evolving caseloads
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teachers, assistants, and families
• Commitment to supporting children in reaching developmental milestones

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging occupational therapy interventions and activities in both individual and group formats
• Document student progress, adapting interventions as needed
• Collaborate closely with educators and support staff in a team-driven environment
• Support developmental and functional goals customized for each child’s unique needs
• Participate in planning and team meetings to continually enhance student outcomes
