AIRPORT TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST (ELECTRICIAN) (CLASS CODE 8046)

Job Title

Highly skilled advanced field and indoor work at the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex electrical circuits, equipment and fixtures including runway lighting and power distribution systems; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma. A valid driver's license. Applicants must be eligible for coverage under the airport's auto liability insurance policy. EITHER a Class "C" Maintenance Electrician license from either the New Orleans Board of Electrical Examiners or another jurisdiction or state OR Class "D" Journeyman Electrician license from either the New Orleans Board of Electrical Examiners or another jurisdiction or state. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and licenses claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification. If hired, Aviation employees must maintain all required licenses, permits, certificates, and auto liability insurance eligibility during the duration of their employment. Failure to comply with any of the above listed provisions will result in termination.

Kind of Examination

A qualifying review of licensure. This is a non-competitive original entrance examination. Candidates must pass a personal, criminal, and employment background check required under federal regulations. This position requires a one year probationary period.
