Assistant or Associate Professor

Columbia University School of the Arts invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Film (tenure-track/tenured) in the Faculty of the Arts, or Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Professional Practice in Film in the Faculty of the Arts, effective July 1, 2027. The MFA Creative Producing program in the Film division is seeking a dynamic and active producer with deep industry experience and relationships who is also a dedicated educator, preferably with experience teaching at the graduate level. The program emphasizes the role of the producer as the holistic creative and business force behind a filmed project. This requires the producer to have both storytelling and business skills, the ability to build collaborative teams, and an understanding of rapidly changing technologies and market conditions. Candidates must have a vibrant professional practice in producing, teaching experience, and the ability to teach and mentor students at the graduate level. The successful candidate will have a breadth of experience in narrative film, television, and digital media in both the independent and studio worlds; the ability to think imaginatively about the future of the industry; and a broad professional network in New York and Los Angeles that can be utilized for the benefit of students and alumni. Experience with international co-productions and familiarity with AI tools, the creator economy, and emerging storytelling technologies, formats, and platforms are preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
