Field Service Technician

The Field Service Technician serves as the primary technical resource for customers within the assigned territory, providing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support for equipment and systems. This position is home-based and requires extensive travel to customer sites, where the technician will operate independently and represent the company professionally.

The role involves regular interaction with plant management, batch plant operators, mixer truck drivers, maintenance teams, and other customer personnel. Approximately 80% of working time will be spent independently at customer locations. Flexibility is essential, as service visits may occur during early morning, evening, overnight, or emergency response situations.

Installation, Maintenance & Repair

• Install, commission, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair admixture dispensing equipment.

• Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and reliability.

• Respond to service requests and emergency repair situations in a timely manner.

• Analyze system performance data and identify equipment or operational issues.

• Develop and implement solutions to resolve technical problems while coordinating with internal support teams as needed.

• Serve as the primary local technical contact for customers, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.

Customer Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers.

• Partner with Sales Representatives to support customer retention and business growth initiatives.

• Deliver exceptional customer service while representing the company in a professional and customer-focused manner.

• Understand customer needs and contribute to achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

Service Planning & Scheduling

• Independently manage and prioritize service activities, including daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.

• Assess customer requirements, diagnose issues, and coordinate service visits efficiently.

• Maintain responsiveness to customer inquiries and technical support requests.

• Provide on-site technical assistance and ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely.

• Effectively manage response times in alignment with customer expectations and service agreements.

Service Administration & Reporting

• Maintain accurate service records and documentation using company systems.

• Coordinate equipment ordering, parts inventory replenishment, and warehouse restocking activities.

• Complete expense reporting, preventive maintenance documentation, and calibration schedules.

• Utilize CRM and service management systems to track customer interactions, service activities, labor time, parts usage, and associated costs.

• Demonstrate responsible stewardship of company resources while managing expenses effectively.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Complete all required safety training and comply with company and customer site safety policies and procedures.

• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of concrete production operations and industry practices.

• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, service efficiency, and customer experience.

• Collaborate with Engineering and R&D teams by providing field feedback, supporting product improvements, and assisting with testing and evaluation of new technologies.

• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• 4 to 7 years of relevant technical experience required. Applicable education, military training, or equivalent mechanical/engineering training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis (1 year of education = 1 year of experience).

• Experience in field service, maintenance, troubleshooting, or related technical support environments preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Working knowledge of computer system configuration, mechanical systems, pneumatic systems, 12/24V DC electrical systems, and hydraulic principles.

• Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, equipment, and processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers and internal teams.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, including accurate recordkeeping and documentation.

• Demonstrated problem-solving and customer service skills.

• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, meters, gauges, and other diagnostic equipment.

• Knowledge of the Ready-Mix Concrete industry is a plus.

Physical & Travel Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to wear a respirator and comply with company facial hair requirements for respirator users.

• Must meet DOT requirements for a Non-CDL commercial motor vehicle driver, including medical certification, drug screening, background check, and driving record review.

• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel overnight as needed.

• Ability to respond to short-notice project assignments and emergency service calls.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $53,500 to $82,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 8% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $55,700 to $86,400. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
